WayNear guide

Search for nearby places by walking time, not just distance

Two businesses can be equally far away on a map but very different walks. Roads, crossings, bridges and walking routes all influence how long it takes to get somewhere. That is why a walking-time filter can be more useful than a simple radius.

Distance is not the same as a walk

A location that looks close as the crow flies may require a long detour. If you have only 10 or 15 minutes, knowing the actual estimated walk matters more than seeing a pin inside a circle. A practical nearby search should work with the time you have available.

Choose your own walking limit

WayNear lets you choose a starting location and set how many minutes you are willing to walk. It then looks for places of your selected type that fit your criteria. You can additionally require places to be open now, remain open long enough, or meet a minimum rating.

Compare a shortlist instead of a crowded map

Instead of working through every candidate one by one, you see up to ten matching places and can reorder them by distance, rating, opening time or price where that information is available. Choose a result to open walking directions in Google Maps.

Who benefits from walking-time search?

It is useful on a city break, during a lunch break, on a stopover or whenever you are travelling without a car. Walking times are estimates, and actual routes or conditions can change, so leave extra time where needed.
